Working in Japan

Whether you're a standard-issue eikaiwa jockey or pursuing other endeavors, your time here is probably largely dictated by your job. From finance to freelance writing, Japan offers a huge array of employment and growth opportunities – if you know how to get them. If you're looking to teach, there are plenty of jobs available as long as you know where to look and how to apply. For other professions, Japan is notorious for favoring nepotism and networking in the job search. Either way, you'll be better off as an informed job-hunter, and not just another contestant in the rat race.
